Our services

What we do , in full.

Education is the heart of ATheory. Below, each service in detail: who it is for and how it works, followed by our smaller consulting practice.

01

1-to-1 tutoring

  • Live one-to-one sessions, taught entirely online
  • Sciences, maths, humanities, languages and essay subjects
  • Aligned to the exact exam board and specification
  • Homework, marking and feedback between sessions

Online subject tutoring for KS3, GCSE and A-Level, matched to the student.

Who it’s for

KS3, GCSE and A-Level students who want to move from coping to genuinely confident, whether that means closing a gap, stretching beyond the syllabus, or steadying nerves before exams. Taught online, wherever they are.

How it works

We match each student to a tutor by subject and temperament, set out a clear plan against the specification, and meet weekly online for focused one-to-one sessions built for the screen, with shared materials and live feedback. Parents receive plain, honest progress notes, not dashboards of vanity metrics.

University application support

  • UCAS guidance and course strategy
  • Personal statement & essay review
  • Admissions tests (e.g. Oxbridge and subject-specific papers)
  • Interview coaching and mock interviews

UCAS, personal statements, admissions tests and interviews, end to end.

Who it’s for

Students applying to UK and international universities, including those aiming at Oxford, Cambridge, medicine, law and other competitive courses.

How it works

We start from the student’s genuine interests rather than a template, then build the application in stages: course research, a personal statement that actually sounds like them, admissions-test preparation, and calm, well-rehearsed interview practice.

Academic mentoring & study skills

  • Revision systems and exam technique
  • Time management and academic planning
  • Note-taking, reading and essay craft

The habits underneath the grades: planning, revision, and self-direction.

Who it’s for

Students who are capable but stuck: disorganised, anxious about exams, or unsure how to revise in a way that holds.

How it works

A mentor works alongside the student over a term or more on the things schools rarely teach directly: planning a week, revising so it sticks, reading closely, and writing to a brief. The aim is a student who needs us less over time, not more.

International student support

  • Online tutoring across time zones
  • Translating overseas grades into UK and US expectations
  • Guidance for parents new to the British system

Guidance for students studying for British qualifications from abroad.

Who it’s for

Families outside the UK whose children sit British qualifications or apply to UK and US universities, and who want a steady point of contact across time zones.

How it works

We work fluently across time zones and education systems, bridge the gap between an overseas school and UK expectations, and keep parents clearly informed throughout. A large share of our students study with us from outside the UK.

Institutional services

  • Curriculum and scheme-of-work design
  • Course and programme development
  • Educational materials, worksheets and assessments

Curriculum, course and programme design, and educational materials for providers.

Who it’s for

Schools, colleges, tuition providers and education businesses who need course design or teaching materials built to a professional standard.

How it works

We design courses, curricula and whole programmes, and produce the materials to teach them, from a single scheme of work to a complete programme with assessments. We can deliver under your name or ours.

ATheory Consulting

A small, separate practice, understated by design.

Consulting services

Alongside our education work, ATheory advises organisations in three areas. We keep this practice deliberately small; if a brief fits, we would be glad to talk.

  • Management & commercial consultancy

Practical advice on strategy, operations and growth for small and mid-sized organisations.

  • Environmental & ESG consulting

Environmental, social and governance advice, reporting and compliance support.

  • IT & educational-technology consultancy

Technology and edtech advice on choosing, building and getting value from the right tools.

Not sure which is the right fit?

Tell us about the student, or the brief, and we will point you to the right starting place, honestly.
